If you have lost your WPA password or passphrase that you use to connect to your wireless, secured network, here is how to retrieve it. These steps are for a DD-WRT Linksys router, but should be the same for a typical Linksys wireless router.
- Start by opening your web browser, Internet Explorer or Firefox will do, but, in this case, I'm using Firefox.
- In your address bar, the default address for a Linksys router is 192.168.1.1. Type this into your address bar, and press enter.

- Once you find your router, it will ask you for a password.
- By default, the username for a DD-WRT, Linksys router is root, but the password is whatever you've set it to.
- If you're using a stock Linksys router, the username is left blank and the password is "admin"
Be sure it's not in caps.

- Now that you've logged in, look for the Wireless tab, in the main menu and click on it. (Step1)

- Once you're in the Wireless tab of the main menu, click on Wireless Security. (Step2)

- Once you are in the Wireless Security tab, look for WPA Shared Key. (Step3) If you see circles where the key is supposed to be, check off the Unmask box, and the password will show. (Step4)
